I can bullshit the hind leg offa donkey to strangers - Bazinga! No True's Nuts!  I even have a saying for it that everyone rags me about.  "Lying Toad".  I can't even remember where I picked it up or who I'm heard it from first.

Anyhoozer, Lying to people I know and who know me well, I can't do it.  I KNOW there is a certain "look" I get when I lie and even I know when I pull "The Face".  

The instant I do it I feel it there - like a beacon for all to see. Its like an alarm going off: 

"Beep! Beep! Beep!  

Look at me I'm lying through my teeth.  

Beep! Beep! Beep!  

Yeah Fuckers, this is the "The Lying Face" can you see it?  

Beep! Beep! Beep! 

You've noticed haven't you? 

 Beep! Beep! Beep! 

You're now going to tell every one I'm lying aren't you?  

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Lying Bitch!

So, Plonkers I avoid lying to my close friends and family about stuff because I'm not very good at it.  I know I'll get caught or I know if they don't say anything, that they're just being polite and avoiding confronting me about it.  They will then go and tell their friends that I lied and spread the word that I'm a Lying Fucking Toad!

Then again this is the Bullshit Challenge, isn't it?

My first experience with alcohol? I actually don’t remember that. Mum always had wine in the house and we were always offered a glass, well I don’t think we were offered, we just took, so I don’t really remember abusing alcohol until my late teens. However, I do remember my first experience with the Doobie Crunchies. Yeah, the good old marujana...


It think it was my sister’s 21st so I was probably 18 and all the usual headbangers and their bitches were invited. I arrived late for the party for some reason and my boyfriend and I made a bee line for the kitchen to pour our cheap plonk wine into presentable glasses to make us feel suitably grown up.


It was then that I noticed the freshly baked crunchies on a pretty plate on the kitchen counter. I fucking love crunchies! I have never been able to resist them.

I popped one in my mouth and we went to join the others. After girating my body for a bit and almost dislocating my neck to Slayer, I went back to the kitchen to get a wine refill. Its thirsty work, headbanging and avoiding the mosh pit.

I then spotted the plate of crunchies that was freshly filled up. I popped another one in my mouth and put another one in my pocket. Soon, I was going back quite regularly to the kitchen, not to refill my wine glass, but to munch down on the yummy crunchies.

About an hour later, I was puzzled as to how I could be THIS pissed on two glasses of wine?! While I was pondering that, I got the giggles. I then go the munchies. Then I got the giggles again. Vicious circle! I don’t remember much after giggling and munching like a maniac but apartently I had a really great time, dancing the night away.

My sister only told me years later that the crunches were “green loaded” and contained quite a lot of weed. No wonder I had such a bad hangover the next day.

• I went on a brilliant wee seaside holiday to visit my mum and dad which did us the world of good.

Day 29 - The 30 Day Blog Challenge

I would never get tired of looking at the ocean. 

I've spent the last four days down at the South Coast, Palm Beach, visiting with my mum and dad and its both lovely to spend time with them and be able to visit the ocean, watch the waves and spend time with them and the girls on the beach.

I missed my Boerewors and although it was a great few days by the sea side, it was GREAT to get home...

Day 27 - The 30 Day Blog Challenge

Topic - A picture of you last year and now and how you changed since then?






Well you be the judge....


Here's two pictures of me a year ago at this time - Christmas time - and the only physical difference is that I've since cut my hair with a fringe (aka bangs)  to cover my forehead wrinkles (its cheaper than botox).  And I've had The Big Ass Mole on my face removed.


I don't think I've changed much physically. 


Perhaps packed on a few more pounds and a dozen or so more wrinkles and arse dimples, but otherwise I look pretty much the same.


I have changed on the inside a lot though.  I've been through a LOT this year.  2010 certainly has been an eventful year with my Boerewors losing his job, twice and not knowing how we were going to pay our bills sometimes and us nearly giving up on our marriage.


I've realised a lot of things about myself that I've been suppressing for fear of being judged.  I've finally opened up and let it out and I can't tell you how liberating that is.  I feel like a new woman, empowered and confident.


Our wee family has grown much closer together after all the hiccups. 


We're now on the right path is its awesome!

I nearly always photoshopped my mole out of pictures because I detested it so much.  Ugly Fucker!  But now I don't have to!  My stitches came out yesterday and its healing beautifully!

Namibia 2003




A Namibian camping trip for 3 weeks - everyday in a different location.  It was a wonderful trip and an experience I will NEVER forget.  Ocean on the one side of the road and the dunes on the other.  Its truly spectacular.

Hey Plonkers!  

My Acer laptop means a lot to me because without it I wouldn't be able to blog.  Well, I would because we have three other stand alone PC's in the house but with my laptop I can blog anywhere in the house and I'm mobile.

Its where I store all my photos, music and its where I surf the interwebs and watch YouTube.  I addicted to YouTube.  I love it.

Anyhoo, this maybe the shortest fucking post I've made for the 30 Day Blog Challenge.  There are tons of other things that mean a lot to me like my family, my hubby, my girls, my friends but I've blogged about them before in the Challenge so that wouldn't be fair....

Mum and Dad


It wasn’t easy having to grow up so fast.


Listening to my your constant fighting, the anxiety of not being able to predict your moods or know what I was coming home to after school or calculate how drunk you’d be.


I feel I missed out on a lot. 


I often had to drag you to bed - passed out, I often had to keep you from physically killing each other, I often had to clean up broken dishes and patch up your wounds. I often had to make sure you got to work the next day and help you cover up black eyes and cuts.


You weren't  there for me as a young teenager. Like when I had my first kiss, my first date or when I needed help with school work (which suffered because of the volatile circumstances). On my matric farewell (prom), Dad, you forgot to come and collect me and I nearly missed the entire evening, which meant everything to me at the time.


All these things made me sad, agressive and quick to move out of home at 17 years old and start my own life. Not really knowing what to do or where to go.  Its been a struggle to find my place in life, therapy and friends have helped. I can now express all these things without feeling ashamed and worried that I will be judged for YOUR behaviour and YOUR choices.


Growing up in a home with two alcholic parents was tough but its made me who I am today. I have forgiven you both for all you did. The neglect, the unstable environment, the physical and mental abuse.


I will not forget but I have forgiven.

Being silly, my silly family members and all its sillyness.  Crazy is relative term in our family.


I love to make people laugh, I love to see them smiling and having a good time.  Our wee family love to be silly and do it often.  We don't feel the need to worry about what other people think about us being silly - thats just how we roll. 


Our Motto:  As long as we're having a good time and giggling thats all that matters.  Live in the moment and throw yer knickers in the ceiling fan if you want to. 

I also love slap-stick humour and hence I love anything to do with bloopers, especially people being stupid and getting hurt.  I find it hysterical and cackle like an old whore at Carry On films.

My Button


This one is pretty self-explanatory....  I'm definitely daft, some say demented and nutty.  I'm originally from Scotland and I'm a gurl so I'm A Daft Scots Lass.  The awesome louboutins aka pretty high heels in the header of my blog are used because of my love for high heeled shoes....



Some of you will remember that originally, my blog was called A Peek Into Our Lives but I changed the name early this year, when I gave my wee bloggy a bit of a "face lift".  I much prefer the new name and the way Daft Scots Lass is heading.  She doesn't censor herself at all -  its more suiting to who I am and what the blog is all about.


What is my blog all about?  


Me, of course, my thoughts, my opinionated rambling, my family, my children, my work, my life as a wife and a very busy working mum with a hectic social calendar.  It may be pretty boring for some, but blogging is a kind of therapy for me.  It is like talking to a friend and getting something "off your chest".  I know it sounds kinda cliché, but that is why I blog.  


I love reading other blogs - in fact I have a readers list of nearly 250 blogs now.  I try and read most of them but its simply impossible to read 250 blogs that generally post every day!  I read when I can, I comment when I can and especially now that our internet is being monitored at work.  I can't sit and have blogger open all day and read when I have a couple of moments.


I love to get comments and feedback on what you like and even what you don't like.  I enjoy hearing YOUR opinions and what YOU think.  That way I get to learn more about YOU.  Yes YOU - my Bloggerville Friends.

Fuck You to the bastard toothache that I've been suffering for the last two weeks.  No fekking medical insurance left so it will have to wait until next year!  suffer baby suffer!

Fuck You to the rain that poured down last night during my 4 year old's Christmas Carol's By Candlelight mini-concert and ruined her debut performance.

Fuck You to my doctor who injected a VERY pointy, VERY sharp, VERY long needle into my face in order to remove all my moles this week.  I look like a fucking leper at the moment because I've still got stitches in my face and scabs where he Dr Shit Hole burned off the rest.  Everyone keeps asking me what happened.  I told them "I actually won the fight but you should see the other guy, He's fighting for his life in ICU, Fucker!"  Some actually believed me for about three seconds.

This is a picture of me at our Year-End Fuction last week.  The theme was Shake, Rattle and Bowl.  We went bowling and had 50's style diner decor. 

Our Team went as The Soda Fountain Staff.  We were waiters and waitresses. It was so much fun to wear the costumes and I just loved being a blonde for the day.  I didn't do too bad at the bowling either....  I got just over 100, okay its not great but I haven't bowled since I was a teenager.

Day 18 - The 30 Day Blog Challenge

Topic - Something you crave a lot.

Welcome to Day 18 of The 30 Day Blog Challenge!

The only time I really crave something is when I know I can't have it, or would have great difficulty acquiring it.


I had big-arse cravings when I was pregnant (both times)




With Megan, it was truck loads of strawberries from Woolies and jam doughnuts (incidentally thats why I landed up lookin' like a fucking doughnut). 

I craved them so badly that one fretful day I tried to microwave a day-old doughnut.  I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into that baby and when I did, I blistered my chin and lips biting into a doughnut filled with bubbling hot jam! 

It was NOT funny, but my mum and Boerewors thought I was fucking hysterical.  Only A Daft Scots Lass would microwave a doughnut and not think of the consequences.  I blame porridge brain.


When I was pregnant with Kaylin, my craving was Beef flavoured potato chips.  I had to have a packet everyday at the same time.  It was pathetic - I couldn't control it.  At least they were not lethal like jammy doughnuts, but they did pack on the pounds.


What I crave these days is:



• Penguin Chocolate Biscuits
• Boerewors
• Mum's freshly baked homemade shortbread
• A White Christmas
• A hot bubble bath with NO interupptions
• A REAL can of IRN Bru
• To fit into my size 10 jeans again
